THE NEED TO TELL OUR STORIES

12/3/2020

I believe future generations benefit from our life stories, whether they are shared with the general public or more intimately with close friends and family. Journaling, blogging, writing in prose or poetry, singing, recording, each of us has a story to tell. This is the photo from the cover of the first volume my brother and I have written for our children and for our children's children's children. It captures some of our experiences living in Tanzania then Tanganyika, when I was fourteen and he was eleven.

A MAGICAL DAY WITH JIM REED, THE BIRMINGHAM ARTS JOURNAL, PATRONS AND AUTHORS/ARTISTS AT THE HOMEWOOD LIBRARY.

What a pleasure to gather with other creatives and those who love and support the arts in the auditorium at Homewood Library on Sunday, February 9th, at the invitation of Jim Reed and the Birmingham Arts Journal. The crowd was comfortably large and very supportive. 'Amanda and Michelle,' a flash fiction piece I have written, was published in the February issue of this journal and I had the pleasure of both reading this story and listening to other contributors read and talk about their works. Such an inspiring afternoon. www.birminghamartsjournal.com/pdf/baj16-2.pdf    page 12.

Pen and Muse Book Club!  Thanks so much for a super fun evening. Jane and her fourteen eccentric women friends loved being in the spotlight tonight. I so appreciate those who dropped by on-line. It was fun meeting each of you. If you didn't make it to the book club but want to read a book of short stories full of twists and turns and lovable women, I hope you'll consider this collection. A terrific night, Pen and Muse!
